How did the Scam Begin?
It all started on March 3, 2025, when the victim connected with a woman on a dating app. Their interaction quickly progressed to exchanging WhatsApp and Instagram details.
Around midnight, during a video call, the woman recorded the victim in a compromising position.
She then blackmailed him, threatening to share the video with his family and friends unless he paid her.
Fearing for his reputation, the victim transferred a total of ₹2 lakh across multiple transactions between March 3 and 4.
However, she didn’t stop there. On March 19, the woman demanded more money. This made him take immediate action.
He complained to the nearest police station under the relevant section.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, seeking details of the bank accounts where the money was transferred and collaborating with the cyber police station to recover the lost amount.
