Quick Summary
Clearsharp Technology Private Limited runs the Black (ClearTax Black) app and holds SEBI Investment Adviser registration INA000020439, valid from 1 July 2025 and perpetual. Its disclosure showed 14 complaints received and 13 resolved in 2026 27, with one pending. We found no advisory fee shown on the pages reviewed, and some complaint figures do not match each other. The firm’s own terms include an arbitration clause where the company appoints the arbitrator. This guide sets out what the firm discloses so you can weigh it yourself.
Many investors first meet this company as “ClearTax Black”, a friendly app that shows mutual fund plans and tax saving ideas. The legal name behind it sits in small print, and that is where checking begins. Before you link your bank account or accept an update on the app, it helps to know who Clearsharp Technology Private Limited is, what SEBI says about it, and what its own pages tell you.
We read the firm’s disclosures and public records as they stood on 10 October 2026, and we set them out neutrally below.
What Is Clearsharp Technology Private Limited and the Black App?
Clearsharp Technology Private Limited is a company that operates under the trade name Black.
It is registered with SEBI as a non individual Investment Adviser under number INA000020439, and it holds BSE enlistment number 2283.
The website offers mutual fund information, fund comparisons, SIP related content and investment guidance.
It also carries regulatory sections for the Investor Charter, Grievance Redressal, Monthly Disclosures, Compliance Audit and IA Details.
The same site promotes the ClearTax Black app, where users can track investments and manage mutual fund investments online.
The website also says that SEBI registration, BSE membership and NISM certification do not guarantee performance or assure returns.
That is a fair statement, and it is worth keeping beside every return figure you read later in this guide.
So the short answer is this. The firm is an adviser registered with SEBI, it presents itself as a mutual fund focused platform, and the rest of your decision depends on fees, claims, complaints and terms, which we take one at a time.
Is Clearsharp Technology Private Limited SEBI Registered?
SEBI’s intermediary list shows the registration, and the details below come from that listing as captured in our research.
Read each pointer and match it to what you see in your own agreement and on the app.
- Registration number is INA000020439, and the prefix INA marks an Investment Adviser.
- Validity runs from 1 July 2025 and is shown as perpetual.
- Contact person is Adithya V V, who the firm also names as Principal Officer and Grievance Officer. The Compliance Officer is listed as Ashish Jaishwal.
- BSE enlistment is number 2283.
Why the Registered Address Needs a Second Look
The SEBI listing gives the registered address as X 58, Second Floor, Loha Mandi, Naraina, West Delhi, New Delhi 110028.
The correspondence address on the same listing is 23 and 24 AMR Tech Park, Ground Floor, Bommanahalli, Bangalore 560068.
The firm’s own website, however, presents the registered address as Ground Floor, Block 2A, AMR Tech Park, Hosur Main Road, Bangalore 560068. Its Terms also state the registered office as the Naraina address in Delhi.
So the SEBI listing and the Terms point to Delhi, while the IA Details page points to Bangalore.
A firm can have a registered office in one city and operate from another, and an update may simply not have reached every page yet.
Still, it is worth asking the firm in writing which address is the registered one, because that decides where legal notices go.

Black ClearTax Investment Adviser Fees and Pricing
A SEBI registered Investment Adviser must tell you how it charges before you pay.
In fixed fee mode, SEBI caps the fee at ₹1,51,000 per client family per year. In AUM mode the percentage is capped separately, and either way the fee belongs in your agreement and your MITC.
On the pages we reviewed, we could not find a clear statement of the firm’s advisory fee.
The ₹10,000 figure shown on the investment plan page is an investment amount, so it does not tell you what you would pay the adviser.
Here is why that matters in practice. Suppose you start a plan with ₹10,000.
If an advisory fee existed, you would want to know whether it is a flat yearly fee, a percentage of assets, or nothing at all, and whether GST is added.
A quick check on GST helps here. A fee at the full cap of ₹1,51,000 plus 18 percent GST comes to ₹1,78,180.
If you ever see that total on an invoice, it equals the cap plus GST and does not by itself break the limit, though you should confirm the GST treatment in writing.
It may be that the platform earns through direct plan distribution, tax filing services or other lines of business instead of IA fees.
We could not confirm that from the sources we had, so it is a question to put to the firm directly.
Black ClearTax Plans and Return Claims
The website lists curated plans, each showing a five year return alongside a suggested holding period.
Use the table below to see the three plans as shown, then read the notes under it to place those numbers in context.
|
Plan |
Category | Five year return shown | Suggested period |
| ClearTax Grow Rich Plan | Equity | 9.55% |
Long term |
| Save Taxes | ELSS tax saving | 10.65% |
Five years or more |
| Aggressive Growth | Equity | 15.17% |
Five to ten years |
A five year return is history. It does not tell you what the next five years will bring, and a plan that paid 15.17 percent a year in one stretch can pay far less in another.
SEBI’s rules do not allow an adviser to promise or assure returns, so look at how the page frames these numbers.
The plans are described as expert curated, and one is a package of several mutual funds. A basket like that is fine in principle.
The question for you is whether the adviser has profiled your risk appetite, age, goals and existing holdings before it suggests the same package to you.
If the app asks for your income and goals and then shows a plan, ask whether that counts as risk profiling in the SEBI sense.
Ask also whether you will receive a written suitability record, because advice that skips this step is hard to defend later.

Can You Trust Promotional Claims By Clearsharp Technology Private Limited?
Marketing lines are where an adviser’s words meet SEBI’s rules most often.
The next few headings take the claims we found one by one, with a short note on how a careful reader might weigh each.
1. “Trusted by 25 lakh Indians”
The page does not say how this number is counted. It could mean app downloads, tax filers, registered users or investors, and these are very different groups.
Ask what the figure measures before you treat it as proof of advisory trust.
2. “Top Performing Funds” and “Best ELSS funds”
Superlatives like these invite you to compare, yet the page gives no method for choosing “best” or “top”.
Ask which period, which category and which data source sit behind the label, and whether the firm earns a commission from the funds it ranks first.
3. “Most popular expert recommended plan”
The Quick Savings plan is described this way, again without the basis.
Popularity measures what many people picked, which is a separate thing from what suits your goals.
4. “Minimum Investment. Maximum Returns” and “double your investment within 5 years”
Doubling in five years needs roughly 14.9 percent growth every year.
The plans table above shows the highest five year return as 15.17 percent and the lowest as 9.55 percent.
Reading these lines together, an investor could take the promise as more certain than any market linked product can offer.

5. “Earn more than PPF, Tax FD”, “Higher return on idle money”, “high returns along with great tax benefits”
PPF and fixed deposits carry different risk from equity funds, so a comparison without that explanation is incomplete.
Mutual fund returns move with markets and are not assured, and a plain note saying so next to the claim would help.

6. “Withdraw money in 30 minutes”
This is a service speed claim. Redemption time can depend on the fund, the cut off time and processing at the fund house, so it is worth asking whether 30 minutes is typical, a best case, or limited to certain funds.

Nothing here proves the firm breaks a rule. These are lines for you to read slowly, and you can ask the firm for its basis in writing.

Clearsharp Technology Complaints Data and What It Shows
Complaint tables are the quickest way to see how an adviser treats its own clients. The firm’s page shows a monthly table for the financial year 2026 27, and the table below repeats it so you can follow each row.
| Month | Carried forward | Received | Resolved | Pending |
| April to June | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| July | 0 | 10 | 9 | 1 |
| August | 1 | 4 | 4 | 1 |
| September | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| October | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| November to March | 1 each month | 0 | 0 | 1 each month |
Adding the received column gives 10 plus 4, which is 14. Adding resolved gives 9 plus 4, which is 13.
That matches the year wise table, which shows 2026 27 with 14 received, 13 resolved and 1 pending, and zero for 2024 25 and 2025 26.
So 13 of 14 complaints were marked resolved, about 93 percent.
The one pending complaint appears from July onward in the monthly trend, and the page gives no age, topic or status for it.
Where the Complaint Figures Do Not Match
Several things in this disclosure do not line up, and each one is a fair question for the firm.
- Months that have not happened: The trend lists November to March under 2026 27, yet today is 10 October 2026. Those rows cannot hold actual results yet.
- October mismatch: A separate October summary shows zero received, zero resolved and zero pending, while the monthly trend shows one carried forward and one pending for October.
- Year not stated: The October page title does not say which year it refers to, so a reader cannot be sure it means October 2026.
- The Grand Total row: It shows 8 carried forward, 14 received, 13 resolved and 9 pending. The carried forward and pending sums add the same single complaint again every month, so those two totals are not a meaningful count.
The year wise table gives the cleaner picture of 14, 13 and 1. - Concentration in two months: Ten complaints in July and four in August follow two years that show zero. The data does not say why, and complaints may relate to the app, to tax filing or to investment services.
Taken together, you cannot confidently read the outstanding complaint position from this page alone.
The firm may be able to explain the layout, and we have not verified the underlying records.

SEBI expects advisers to publish complaint data every month by the 7th. A firm that does this regularly makes it easy to track progress, and clear labels help a lot.

Do Black App Terms and Conditions Check Out?
Terms are the part most people skip, and also the part a court or arbitrator would read first.
Below are the points from the Terms that stood out in our reading.
Dispute Resolution Clause
The Terms say disputes go to a sole arbitrator appointed by the Company.
Arbitration itself is a legitimate route, but a clause where one side picks the arbitrator can raise a fair question about neutrality.
If you want to understand how a neutral process normally works, this guide on arbitration in share market shows how exchanges and institutions appoint arbitrators and what rights you keep.
Reading it before you accept any contract helps you spot clauses that deserve a second look.
An agreement clause does not cancel your right to complain to SEBI through its official channels, so ask the firm to confirm that in writing.

Registered Office Details
As covered earlier, the Terms state the Delhi address as the registered office, while the IA Details page names Bangalore.
Keep a screenshot of the address on the date you accepted the Terms.
The “Financial Services Execution Agreement”
The Terms say users have entered into a Financial Services Execution Agreement, yet the agreement shown appears mainly framed around execution of direct mutual fund transactions.
That raises a simple question about which service you actually signed up for, advice or execution.
The difference matters. Advice brings duties of suitability and a fee agreement under IA rules, while execution only is a transaction service.

What Do Black App Reviews on Google Play Say?
User reviews give a feel for daily experience, though they carry less weight than records.
The Black app has a 4.1 star rating on Google Play, and we read several lower rated reviews, summarised below in our own words.
The app also offers income tax filing, along with direct mutual fund investing, SIP and ELSS.
Several reviews talk about tax filing services, which may be a separate business line from the investment advice this guide covers.
- One reviewer said a recent update blocked access to investments until a new contract was accepted, and warned SIP holders to be careful.

User review highlighting account access blocks following recent app updates - Another wrote that “the app is getting worse day by day” and doubted whether basic issues would be fixed.

User feedback discussing functional issues on the Google Play store - A third said there was no option to erase personal data or delete the account, and called the tax filing price high.

User review discussing data privacy and account deletion limitations - Others described unhappy experiences with tax filing support, pricing at busy times, and an AI based support chat that did not reply.

User review highlighting support & processing issues with ClearTax services
These are individual opinions that we have not verified, and the firm may dispute them.
Because several refer to tax filing, they may not describe how the adviser side works.
Still, points about forced contract acceptance and data deletion connect to consent and privacy, so you can ask the firm how it handles both.
Has SEBI Passed Any Order Against Clearsharp Technology?
In the sources we reviewed, we found no SEBI order against the firm as of 10 October 2026.
Our web search returned the firm’s own disclosure pages and no enforcement order, penalty or adjudication.
That is not a clean certificate. Our check was limited, SEBI can post orders later, and search engines miss things.
You can search the firm’s name and registration number on the SEBI website yourself before you invest.
How to Complain About Clearsharp Technology Private Limited?
The firm lists a Grievance Officer, Adithya V V, and a Compliance Officer, Ashish Jaishwal, on its Grievance Redressal section and on the SEBI listing.
Start by writing to the grievance contact by email with your account details, dates and what you want done.
Give the firm a reasonable window, and keep every reply. If you get no answer, or the answer does not help, move to SEBI’s channels.
The complete steps live in our guides.
Our page on how to file a SEBI complaint against investment advisor covers what documents to attach and how to word your grievance, which suits you if your issue is with advice, fees or suitability.
Keep your emails, screenshots and statements in one folder as you go, because each platform asks for the same papers.
Once the firm’s reply window passes, the official SEBI platform takes your grievance forward.
Our walkthrough of a SCORES SEBI complaint shows what to expect after you submit it.
The firm’s website also links to SEBI SCORES and the SMART ODR Portal, so both routes are on the firm’s own pages.
If a SCORES complaint does not settle things, the SMART ODR portal page explains how online dispute resolution picks up from there.
Questions to Ask Before You Invest With Black
A short list of written questions often says more than any website. Send these by email so that you hold the answers.
1. What is your advisory fee, and when do I pay it?
Ask for the mode, the amount, the GST and the billing date in your agreement and MITC. If the answer is “no fee”, ask for that in writing too.
2. Which address is your registered office?
Ask because the SEBI listing, the Terms and the IA Details page do not all name the same city. Keep the reply with your account papers.
3. What does “25 lakh Indians” count?
Ask whether it counts app users, tax filers or advisory clients. The answer shows how much of that number relates to investment advice.
4. What is the status of the pending complaint?
Ask how old it is and what it is about. The monthly table has shown it since July, and age matters when you judge how fast the firm resolves things.
5. Can I still go to SEBI or SMART ODR despite the arbitration clause?
Ask for a written confirmation. You should know your options before a dispute begins, not after.
Legal note: This blog is based on the firm’s published disclosures and publicly available SEBI records as of 10 October 2026. It does not allege wrongdoing, and the firm is welcome to share its side. We could not independently confirm the firm’s fee arrangements, the basis of its promotional claims, the status of its pending complaint, or the app reviews quoted.
Conclusion
Clearsharp Technology Private Limited is registered with SEBI, and its own pages say plenty.
They also leave gaps on fees, on the basis for its popular claims, and on how its complaint tables fit together.
Before you invest, send the questions above by email and keep the replies.
Save screenshots of the plans, the Terms and the complaint page as they look today.
Check the registration number on SEBI’s list yourself, and look again for new orders.
If you already face a problem, write to the grievance officer first and escalate in order, with documents ready.
Your money and your consent are yours to protect, and a calm paper trail does that best.
